I had my 3rd infusion of oxaliplatin today and suffered a reaction shortly after. Racing heart rate, high blood pressure, felt hot and like I was going to faint. I was given IV hydrocortisone, IV piriton and IV fluids. After about 10 minutes I felt ‘normal’ again and obs improved.
Has anyone else suffered a reaction? Is the next round still likely to go ahead?
Hope you are all as well as can be
Rachael
Good evening,
I actually completed treatment over a year ago and I’m currently No evidence of disease. I had a 4 infusion which I reacted to 3 times at which point it was deemed unsafe to continue with the infusion.
Please don’t panic, the staff know exactly what to do. I always felt that I was in very safe hands. Hope you next treatment goes well.
Hi Rac
Thank you for your reply. I am dreading the 3rd infusion but will be talking to the Oncologist in much detail before anymore go ahead. It was really scary to lose the function to communicate and talk properly. I really want to see this through to the end.
