My husband has been having really bad stomach cramps, diarrhoea and some blood in poop. Dr did a barrage of tests. Fit test came back ok but Calprotectin was 380. He has since had a colonoscopy where 3 small polyps were removed and the dr also did 6 biopsies throughout the path he took. Is it normal to take biopsies regardless of it all looking “very healthy” as the dr said or does he suspect something else?? From what I’ve read a Calprotectin level such as his can indicate cancer. Husband thinks all is ok and not to worry now dr said this but I was diagnosed with cervical cancer 10 years ago after being assured it wasn’t. So a little sceptical and would rather be in the know.
Hi loganamum
I can't help with your questions, as I haven't had these types of tests, but I noticed that your post hadn't had any replies yet. Responding to you will 'bump' it back to the top of the discussion list again. Hopefully, one of the forum members will be along shortly to share their experiences with you.
((hugs))
Hi anything that is removed from the body that isn't meant to be there is automatically biopsies from what I understand working at a hospital so don't worry too much about that side of things. I'm not familiar with the calprotectin level you mentioned. Having experience cancer yourself its only natural that your thoughts will automatically go there but try and think positively until you know what you are dealing with.
Good luck, Debs
