The hospital rang today, the lab have recorded one of the results wrong. The tumour I had removed on the 13/10/23 (right hemicolectomy) wasn’t msi stable like they thought so they are sending me to London for genetic testing.
Can anyone tell me what happens at the first appointment?
Hi Rac

Just linking in some of the nhs information .
There is also a condition which covers bowel cancer called Lynch syndrome . It has a genetic element and only recently treatments like immunotherapy have been funded for it .
There is a great association for lynch patients in the U.K. and one of our previous forum members was heavily involved in it .
My understanding is these analysis can take months .
Just some further info .
Take care.

Hi Rac I have Lynch syndrome. It does depend on the hospital but it’ll be an interview about your family and they will want details of parents or siblings who have had cancer. They might do a blood test there (that’s all they need to test for this) so it’s worth getting your family history together! Good luck!
Thank you for your reply. My consultant did talk about a meeting at the hospital before anything is done but that was all the information he gave me as it won’t be done at my local hospital.
I did mine initially on line by zoom but ut was all through Guys hospital whereas my sister did hers through St George’s as it all depends where you live. Good luck with yours!
I’m sure my consultant said he was referring me to St George’s. I’m not that far from Portsmouth.
I’m not sure how they decide on areas, my sister is in Surrey and I’m in Kent. My sister said they were really nice at St George’s so you will be in good hands!
Thank you. I live in Hampshire but the hospital treating me is in Surrey. Thank you for your help.
