Hello friends, my husband has advanced rectal cancer with the tumour sitting in his pelvis and wrapped around the vessels and nerves in his groin, leading to sciatica, a swollen foot and general problems with that leg. He's had a terminal diagnosis but I'd like to know what the doctors can't seem to tell me, which is how will this disease progress and how he will deteriorate? I'm not afraid of knowing it's almost worse not knowing. He was given 2 to 3 years about a year ago. Can any of you help with what will likely happen? He also has a colostomy. He has tumours in his lungs which aren't causing any problems yet and aren't expected to be what ends his life. Is it likely to be a slow decline or a sudden event? This is a painful topic but I'd like to be prepared as it's possible to be. Thanks to you in advance for any help or advice with this situation we find ourselves in
Hi Kate64
I am wondering if you would like to speak to one of our helpline staff . They could get the nurse to speak to you about what to expect . I take it his liver is clear ?
But they could point you in the right direction to get the information you require . They can do it entirely confidentially at a time that suits you .
Take care ,
