Hi all I had a colonoscopy last Tuesday and was told I have a 3cm tumor in my colon.
Have now had both scans and been told I need to wait for the specialist meeting to decide on further action. Could anyone advise how long this takes and how you would be notified.
Thanks
Hi Gmm and a warm welcome to the board. Once your scan results are back then they will be discussed at the MDT which usually meets once a week and they will decide on a treatment plan. You will then be invited to a meeting with a consultant to discuss it. It’s hard to say how quickly this will happen as it probably varies from one hospital to another but hopefully it won’t be too long. I’ve attached a link to a booklet that I was given at my first meeting

Take care and please post if there’s anything we can help you with?

Two weeks ago After a bowel screening test. The hospital contacted me asking me to come and have a colonoscopy. They told me the same day I had a Tumour in the bowel. That week I had a MRI Scan and CT scan. They said that on Thursday a week ago the team will to decided how to proceed. I had a call this morning to same a appointment had been made to go a meet the surgeon on Friday .. so in all it’s been about two and half weeks to get to this stage..
Hi Julia thanks for the info.
It's now been a week since the colonoscopy and today I've spoken to a nurse at the hospital who told me I'm on the list for the mdt meeting next Wednesday so will take it from there. I'm sure it's all just a bit of a whirlwind for you too and it's just a case of trying not to panic and hold on to some sort of normality. I wish positive vibes and the best of luck.

I had also had a 3cm tumour which was identified during colonoscopy. Took a couple of weeks to see the surgeon, they needed my biopsy results back. MRI and CT all happened quickly before the appointment. My colonoscopy was end of July and surgery 11th September. My experience has been good so far. Met my ‘cancer nurse’ at the meeting with the surgeon. They are wonderful and have always got back to me very quickly. I also want to ‘pre habilitation’ which is run by NHS and Macmillan where I am. Really useful advice during the first session and then weekly exercise sessions. Have gone back post op. The time went fairly quickly, I was off work and took the time to catch up on stuff (hobbies). I was worried that NHS strikes may have impacted me, I was told they do everything possible to hold to schedule for cancer cases. Surgery was successful and I am having some chemo for ‘belt and braces’ (started popping the pills this morning). Best wishes and good luck
