But now they say i have 2 leasions on my liver.
They haven't told me what there going to do about it. Just they having a multi disiplinery mtg.
Anyone else had this .
What can i expect treatment wise .
Hi Smiffey
So sorry to hear about the spread . However bowel cancer is a bit more fortunate than other primaries when it comes to a spread to the liver . There are still possible treatment options . They are inclined to give chemotherapy to stabilise the disease . And this gives the systemic benefit of tackling any stray cells .
Given the size of the liver if the location is favourable they can sometimes do liver resections . To put this in context my mum initially had four wedge resections in her liver but this was not sufficient so they gave her more chemotherapy and referred her to a centre of excellence. There they removed 73% of her liver . Not only did it clear the disease but it has worked well since . The surgery was back in 2010 .
Other treatments are often used like radio frequency ablation . There are criteria for all procedures but chemotherapy also has the benefit of potentially gaining some shrinkage . My mum had five tumours initially one being five cm that shrank right down and she got better surgical margins .
Whilst it is disturbing it’s not without hope .
Take special care ,

Hi
Same position as Hazel. Disappeared with Chemo but like ghastly visitors turned up again. In my case they have really expanded quickly.
Quite depressing that liver tumours could be so vigourous. Offered Resection or ablation. Opted for former. Due in three weeks +.
I suppose the lesson is that the possibility of escape is vanishingly small. To maximise your chances insist on quarlerly scans.
Still better dying from this stuff than dementia.
Hi Anthony
I had a single liver lesion after sigmoid colon resection.Given 6 months of Folfox and lesion disappeared. That was in May 22. .I’m now on 4 monthly scans and so far so good but recognise that it wiii likely reappear .The oncologist has moved m from 3 monthly to 4 monthly scans now.Ever an optimist
