Good afternoon Everyone.

Happy Saturday to you all

Sorry I not been on here for a while. I find it difficult at the moment to be as supportive as I should be to everyone on here going through their own personal journey.

Please know you are all in my thoughts

I met with my oncologist in Swansea this past Wednesday

She couldn't have been more informative, kind, supportive and clear with all the questions I threw her way. Also my new nurse was so kind and caring

They have finally told me my tumour is stage 3. T4 L1 M0

My tumour is 6 cm long so quite large and it is invading the space with my prostate.

The plan is a CT scan plan this coming Monday to line up my pelvis with the machine that will administer my radiotherapy. So 5 and a half weeks of radiotherapy 5 times a week.

Then a one off injection of chemotherapy followed by tablets to take for 5 and a half weeks alongside the radiotherapy.

The plan is to cure which is wonderful news. The treatment should start hopefully mid November. To be honest it couldn't come soon enough as I want it gone and the pain to be gone too. I appreciate however side effects may well be rather horrible. There is a hostel within the hospital where I hope to be able to stay during the weeks of treatment.

I am reading what I feel able to about it all with the booklets they have given me  I am now avoiding all Google searches and trying to just focus on getting through this and back to some form of normality. Whatever that is

Love to you all

  • Hi PaddyBud and good to hear that you now have a plan in place. Radiotherapy can be very successful at shrinking tumours and is pretty tolerable. The radiographers keep a close eye on you and will give to creams and tablets to combat any side effects. I’ve attached a link to a thread that we did about it and also a link to a recent post which was really good

     Halfway through treatment

Treating you with a view to cure is great news and exactly what I was told 7 years ago. Please don’t apologise for not posting for awhile - the board is here for you as and when you need it.

    Hope your treatment goes well

    Take care

  • This is good news  always delighted to read someone is curable and I think you are being very wise filtering out what is currently unhelpful.

Can I just say we definitely don’t expect you to be in a position to offer support at this juncture . We are here for you at the moment so don’t burden yourself with expectations.

    Have a relaxing evening .
