How to cope with my results? Feeling anxious.

I received my results yesterday, they removed 27 cells & 2 were cancerous.
I will need 3 or 6 months of chemotherapy.

I had already been made aware at pre op this might be the case, just feeling emotional, I have great family & friends support but sometimes I feel alone dealing with this.

I was hoping to start work again but I feel everything’s up in the air at the moment,  I hope I will feel slightly better when I have met with the oncologist & have a plan in place.

  • Hi  . Yes you will feel better once you have a plan in place. I know it’s disappointing that there’s still more treatment to go but it’s the belt and braces to give you the best outcome. Once you know which chemo you’re having then we can send you some ‘top tips’.

Chemo can be tough but everyone reacts differently so it’s hard to predict how you’re going to feel. Depending on what you do for a job you may be able to continue working if you feel up to it and your oncologist is happy? I worked part-time in an office so carried on working and anyone with a cold avoided me as chemo can reduce your immune system.

Good to hear that you’ve plenty of support but sometimes you need to speak to people who’ve been in the same boat so keep posting or give the support desk a ring if you want to chat

    Take care
