Copax side effects

Hi,

I was diagnosed with stage 3 cancer of the sigmoid colon in January 2023, surgery followed in February, followed by 12 weeks of Copax chemotherapy. It’s now around 3 months since I finished the chemo but I still have some slight numbness and background tingling in my fingers and toes. It’s an irritant more than anything, not disabling.  Is this likely to be a permanent condition? The side effects from the Oxaliplatin during chemo were grim at the time especially the tingling in my extremities when subjected to anything even slightly cold.

  • Hi

My mum is much further down the road and whilst it has not gone away completely it certainly has lessened to the point of not being an issue . Although I do think she has numbness still but on its own is more manageable.

    Take care ,

  • I recall that, at three months, the symptoms you describe (peripheral neuropathy) were at their worst.

It does improve, but I have been left with fingers that just feel different and feet that are quite numb towards the extremities.

It's now several years on and I don't expect it to change.

  • Morning Dewibach I also had stage 3 cancer of the sigmoid, tumour removed July 22 and chemo from Sept 22 to Dec 22, CAPOX. I had the tingling in hands and feet during the chemo but the feet became more painful about 4 months after I finished chemo, hands ok but feet not. I use volterol and moisturiser and it has got better but I still have foot flare ups but it is manageable. My feet feel painful and numb but walking removes the pain . Good luck but from my experience, you can walk through this x

  • I also had 4 rounds of Capox.

My hair grew back and the tingling fingers went away after a few months.I am just left with occasionally not being able to swipe on a phone screen due to fingerprints being odd.but I can live with that

    All the best
