Afternoon,
I am so confused..... My husband got told his chemo treatment plan would be IV day 1 along with 14 days of tablets then a week off everything.
Basically 3 weeks, then it starts again going on for 3 months.
He has had his appointment through and the letter states the treatment dates are at 2 week intervals...... HELP.
Does that mean he has treatment for 2 weeks then a weeks break or have they changed it and he isn't having a break?
He won't let me ring up, as this is the first day he has felt 'normal' since he has had radiotherapy and he wants to enjoy the week he has without any treatment.
I am panicking as to what it all means.
I didn't know who else to ask!!
Thanks in advance kell x
Hi ,
Do you know the name of the chemo he is having . They normally work to a protocol . If you can find out the name we can.
He should have it on an information leaflet .
Don’t discount admin errors either . My mum is on a two week cycle but only on Cetuximab and I doubt they would use that protocol for your husband .
Two week cycle May just be referring to the active treatment cycle then a rest week .

Hi Kell Sug. Mine were at 2 week intervals but most others seem to be on 3? I had chemo after my op and was late starting due to a few hiccups so I’m not sure if that was why? I had 1 day iv, 9 days capecitabine then 4 days off.
As Court says it may be that they mean 2 weeks active treatment then 1 week off? There’s only the hospital can confirm this unfortunately so it’s a case of either ringing them or finding out on his first day?
I was on Capox/xelox which is oxaliplatin with capecitabine if you want to check what your hubby’s having?
Take care

Hi @Kell Sug. The treatment he’s having is totally standard for rectal cancer. Presumably he’s not had any scans yet so they’ve not got any new information that they’re not sharing with you? It’s probably a mistake so give them a ring in the morning and remember ‘thoughts are not facts’.
Take care and let us know what they say?

Thank you Karen,
No he hasn't had any scans as yet as the radiotherapy would have inflamed everything and they said the tumour would look bigger.
I will ring up tomorrow and try and get some answers.
Hopefully I will be able to let you know the outcome tomorrow.
Thanks again Kell x
