I am sat in a hospital clinic feeling very sorry for myself and very.frightened. After many investigations I've been told I have large tumour in my bowel. This has spread to.the bones. I have been called to see a colorectal surgeon...not quite sure what for. I know the colon is narrowing which.they are concerned about.  How can you feel.positive when.everything is against you. I'm.in pain and feeling so unwell every day?

  • Hi

So sorry to hear about your situation but you definitely don’t need to feel positive at the moment as you are going through a lot and don’t need the additional pressure of having to try and alter how you are feeling about a real problem .

However it does sound as though you need good input clinically to lessen your pain and potentially start treatment. Once you are in a better position pain wise with a treatment plan you can start to work on how you feel .

Macmillan has teamed up with Bupa to offer six free counselling sessions and this might be a support structure you might want to consider .

Also remember your Gp can help with supporting you and keeping an eye on your mental health whilst you go through this .

One step at a time .

  • Hi,  , it sounds like they might think removal of the tumour is the first step, to prevent blockage. Can you run it by your nurse?
