So accidentally, I found my CEA results on the NHS app, it said the CEA was 7.9ug/l. I have no idea if this is good or bad, my next appointment isn’t until mid August and I am starting to worry!!!
Hello Carol G
I can understand you feel worried and want some reassurance.
We have an Ask the Nurse section on here where you could ask for more information. They would normally respond within 3 working days.
Ask a Nurse - Macmillan Online Community
Alternatively you could give the Support Line a quick call and speak to someone on there who could help explain these results.
The other thing I have done in the past is to do one of those online consultations with my GP practice. I found them quite helpful for quick questions.
Hope this helps
Jane
Hi CarolG

You might find this interesting. You can have a CEA test one day and it could be different a few days later . Also it depends what lab and pharmaceutical test is used .
Here in Scotland it’s slightly different so please interpret with caution . Also if you are currently on treatment it can raised . Have you had surgery ?
Take care ,

Thank you for the reassurance, lesson learned, don’t go snooping about in my nhs app account or google lol
Will contact the clinic on Monday and try not to panic over the weekend! I’ve been fine since diagnosis and surgery, maybe this panic is delayed reaction? (I think that’s what I would tell my patients)
To be fair it is natural to want to know more and I have thought before that when they are putting something like that on the app that maybe they should ask GP/practice nurse to call patient to explain.
It could well be a bit of a delayed reaction, I had something like that after treatment finished. During treatment it all happens so quickly and then it stopped and I had time to think and process it all. Contacting the clinic on Monday is a good idea. Maybe update us and it might help someone else in the future.
What a beautiful cat! I have 3 :-)
