New one here
Hello Larnie
I can understand how worrying this is and how it is made worse by it being the bank holiday weekend.
Is it possible to phone your doctor and explain how worried you are and whether a nurse or someone could call you back today?
I have just had a look on the NHS Bowel screening link here
Bowel cancer screening - NHS (www.nhs.uk)
From looking at it, a positive result (if that is what it is) means that further investigation is needed. If a little blood was in the sample, this could have other causes and does not necessarily mean anything more serious. A fit test does not diagnose cancer- it picks up small amounts of blood in the sample.
I do understand how worrying it is for you, if you feel like you would like to talk to someone, please call the support line- they will understand how you are feeling.
I hope this helps a bit
Jane
Hi Larnie
Do you think that’s he’s sent the FIT test with urgent to make sure that the results come back asap ?
Im only saying that because I went to my GP last week and was put through in an emergency for a breast clinic
It was to rush me through I had an abscess and he didn’t want me to have antibiotics before it was drained
The FIT will take a while to test and he wants it quickly to reassure you
If the test comes back with a positive result it still doesn’t mean cancer my husband has had at least three positives and colonoscopies and has not had cancer
Try and relax over the weekend and not worry too much
Sending you a hug
Ann
Hi Larnie.
If your FIT result is back it should show up on your electronic GP records. These can be access via many routes, such as Patient Access. The full range of access options can be found on NHS website:
https://www.nhs.uk/using-the-nhs/about-the-nhs/how-to-get-your-medical-records/
This is how i found out my result when i found no-one available to tell me.
Please do remember that even a high score could be indicating other things, not just cancer.
Whatever cancer throws your way, we’re right there with you.
