Only 19 hours until I attend the hospital every thought going through my head , just wondering was anyone ever be told they would need an ileostomy after their op
but didn’t get one ? Think I am clinging on to straws thinking like this and I don’t know why I am feeling this way I have a temp stoma and cope well with it , just keeping having this feeling I won’t cope with ileostomy .
Hi Fraser1
I've just come on to wish you good luck for tomorrow. It is scary and I remember that all too well (I'm a total woose) but just hold on to the fact that you'll be in safe hands, sound asleep so will know nothing, and it's the very best chance of getting rid of the tumour - that's what worked for me. You cope well with the colostomy so that's a really great start for dealing with the ileostomy (if that's what transpires). Just take it a day at a time and come back on here, or to the stoma group, if you need any help or reassurance.
Take care x
Hi Fraser1.
Yes, I was prep'd by stoma nurse for both bags and tattoo'ed up on both sides ready, pre op.
Then during operation they decided to stretch and reattach meaning no bags. It can happen but does depend on lots of things that our out of our control.
Good luck with operation tomorrow
I didn’t know if that happen ,as you said it all depends but at least I know now that it does in some cases thank you
Thanks everyone again ,well operation went well got everything out by key hole surgery did get the ileostomy temporarily to let the wound heal and wait for the results from the tumour and lymph nodes ,can’t believe they think I my get home tomorrow ? And the ileostomy is not as scary as I thought!
Hi Fraser1
Congratulations on op and possibly going home tomorrow.
I remember the wonderful feeling of being back in my own comfy and quiet bed. Bliss!
Hope recovery goes well and we'll be here for you if you need us.
Hi Fraser1
It's good to hear that you're through the operation safely and that the ileostomy isn't as bad as you thought. I hope that you got home today as it's always nice to get back to your own bed.
Take things slowly, both physically and with diet, and you'll be managing that ileostomy in no time. Fingers crossed for good results too. Any questions, just ask.
Best wishes x
