On the 9/2/23 we were given the news my husband has advanced T4 bowel cancer. He’s has bloods & a further CT scan. He has already undergone emergency surgery for 6 & 1/2 hours and has haf a colonoscopy. We are now waiting to attend the first oncology appointment on the 29th of March. We are unsure what yo expect at this appointment. My husband is very scared as he thinks they are going to tell us that there is nothing they can do. I am trying my best to be positive & supportive but I have no one to discuss my fears with. Can someone please tell us what to expect at this 1st appointment
thank you

My 1st appointed covered heaps, but i think the majority was to:
My experience was that my oncology was keen to understand what was important to me and it gives you the chance to discuss prognosis, quality of life, survival stats, drug trials, etc if you want to.
In summary, I found my 1st oncology appointment very person centred, positive and informative.
Thank you so mych for this information much appreciated
