So happy and relieved to say things are far better than I’d hoped!
So I have no sign that the cancer has spread and the tumor hasnt gone through the colon wall! Two nodes nearby are slightly enlarged but they’re not sure if that is a sign of cancer or the body’s natural immunity response to the nearby cancer.
Plan is a right hemicolectomy which I fully expected and am fine with, and consultant reckons I won’t need a stoma at all. They’ll also remove the enlarged nodes and have them tested. If they’re clear then they expect the operation to be the only treatment I’ll need, if not then there’ll be a discussion about chemo etc. so at the moment I am T3N2M0
They want me to lose a bit more weight before the op (have lost 11kg so far!) so will bring me back in 4-6 weeks, see how I am, and set a date!
I‘m just buzzing with relief and joy! This is so much better than I’d feared! I just wish I could get this cancer out of me right now lol, as I feel like an invader is there and I want it gone, but I understand their reasoning and they reassured me it wouldn’t suddenly get worse while waiting!
That is good news, Nicole83 , it will soon be in the bin. I had a hazy node too, which proved to be nothing, so fingers crossed the same is true for you. All the best, and any tips for loosing weight!? Cutting down is my go to, but weight varies by upto 2kg day to day, weird! I put it down to retained water or poo.....
Take care, xx
well done for losing 11kg, I need to lose the 10kg that I put on whilst having chemo, bit unfortunate that eating was the only thing that stopped me feeling sick !! Hopefully you will have no node involvement and surgery will be all you need and then you can move on, being able to continue with relief and joy, marking this episode as a life experience Keep us all posted on your progress and any weight loss tips would be greatly appreciated. xx
the weight is slowly coming off as I am getting more exercise- walking the dog, gardening, housework etc but I am just so grateful that the chemo did its thing. With the warmer weather hopefully on the horizon, I will have even more incentive to get rid of the weight. Most of the patients who I got to know during my chemo sessions were so poorly and could hardly keep anything down, that would never be me. If I was a dog, I would be a labrador , always up for a treat.
You're right Mel, we're lucky to be able to eat! Fortunately I work from home so I live in my leggings at the moment! I started running again, taking it slowly, and walk the dog everyday but it will definitely be easier as the days get longer and warmer (and I finish chemo - 2 cycles to go)! So impressed with your weight loss #NicoleBee, any tips please share!!!
My fingers are also crossed for you Atticus. Good luck with the pre op appt. and praying that surgery alone will get the job done. Keep us posted . I certainly appreciate everything more now, sad that sometimes it takes a blip like this to make us grateful xx
