I had low anterior resection on 2nd Feb via robot. I did not get a stoma (which I was relieved and surprised about) I have struggled with post op chest infection, severe rectal pain and now on antibiotics for infected wound. I am at the toilet I may move the tv in there! I am on OxyContin 5mg (stepped down from 20mg twice daily) We had hoped the surgery would be sufficient but the review of the removed section showed cancer in one out of 24 lymph nodes so they will be doing chemo. Does anyone know what chemo that may be be (I am T1 with spread to that node)
any information may help would really appreciated
Hi TWS. I would guess at 3 months Capox/xelox which is oxaliplatin in iv form followed by 2 weeks capecitabine tablets then 1 week off but your oncologist will advise you.
Take care

Hi TWS.
The chemo offered will be dependent on many things, including any other health conditions or vulnerabilities you may have.
I'd suggest this site is best to give you a brief intro to common chemo offerings and for what scenarios:
https://www.bowelcanceruk.org.uk/about-bowel-cancer/treatment/chemotherapy/
But your Oncologist will talk you through their suggested options for you and the pros and cons of them.
Whatever cancer throws your way, we’re right there with you.
