Simon just home after first chemo infusion as you have all said came home feeling the cold and fingers sensitive. Couldn't understand all the tablets he came home with if you could advise me. Chemo tablets steriods antiibiotic anti sickness capecitabine should he take before food any advice would help me x
Hi Jkee
Sounds like Simon's team was covering all bases proactively.
Each med should have a pharmacy label stuck on them to say summary of any special notes (eg my steroid tablets are take with or after food). There should also be the "PIL" (patient information leaflet) with full details and things to consider.
My anti-sickness tablets are take if required ("PRN") and not take take if feeling fine.
If still not clear, I'd suggest calling you chemo nurses or the dispensing pharmacy (details on meds label) to clarify
Thankyou think with the blood thinner injection and iron now more tablets and injections didnt realise thought it would be just a tablet morning and night but yes i will look better in morning
I laid them all out, read the instructions on each and made a chart.that way I could see what to take when.some like steroids for me were only a few days, others like loperamide I never needed.I soon got into the swing.it seems a lot initially but if you break it down into small daily steps it really isnt too bad
All the best
Kath
Do you know why he is on an antibiotic?
Just wondering if he is on a targeted treatment as well . My mum is and it involves an antibiotic which I will admit we got the instructions wrong the first cycle . The specialist nurse said they are well aware there is a load of information the first cycle so just to phone and clarify any details . A quick chat really helped us .
Take care ,
