Side effects once chemo has finished, omitting last oxy infusion

Guys what side effects are you suffering with now you’ve finished chemo if any that is… my oncologist suggested we may have to drop the last oxy infusion Friday as side effects could get worst once chemo finished and my sensory neuropathy isn’t getting any better so don’t really want it to get any worst I’m also scared if I have to take any more sick leave in the future should the side effects continue.

Has anyone else had to stop at their last infusion

Thanks

Vicky

  • Hi Vicky. I had the oxaliplatin stopped after 6 cycles when I mentioned that my tongue felt funny - like that funny numb feeling when you’ve sucked an aniseed sweet? I had capecitabine alone for another 2 then mentioned that my feet were tingly. The nurse looked at them, said they looked red and I didn’t have the last cycle. After that my feet did get worse and still aren’t right 5 years later - they feel like they’re sunburnt and hot and swollen with reduced sensitivity. It’s not serious more annoying than anything else and I often sleep with my feet stuck out of the covers.

    Take care

  • Oh wow ok my feet have been horrendous I’ve found a good exfoliating moisturiser that seems to help mind so will continue using that, my eyesight has gotten worst, had an eye test which confirmed that and the rash on my face right now is terrible, I never had acne as a kid so this is really getting me down, I’ve tried a cream from my doc and have been using emollients but nout seems to be working it’s just getting worst and more red :( is the oxy to blame for all this you rec x

  • Hi. The eyesight issue can be a side effect of oxaliplatin but I wasn’t aware that the rash was - or not with oxaliplatin at least. I know it can be a side effect of cetuximab so I’m wondering if Court has any suggestions? x
