Hi seen my oncologist four weeks after my chemo/ radiotherapy (5 weeks ) everything was fine no problems with it but he says he won’t see me again unless he I need more therapy after my op ! Been quite confused over two things 1.last time I saw the surgeon he said would have six week MRI and Ct scan then see the oncologist who would give me the results then see him so who gives you the results. 2 worried about the ct scan the oncologist said the ct scan is to see if the cancer had spread nobody had mentioned this is there a high risk after going through the treatment . Seemed to get through one part then get upset by the next
Hi. It’s quite normal to have a Ct scan several weeks after chemoradiotherapy to see how it’s worked and to give the surgeon up to date information. It may be that the results aren’t back so the surgeon will give them to you when you have your appointment? Did you not have a scan before starting treatment? That’s when they usually check for any spread - the radiotherapy does not cause spread to other organs - it will hopefully have shrunk the tumour.
Hope this helps

Thanks yes I did have a scan and MRI before I had my frist op ( temp stoma ) was told it was all localised , so was just a bit upset when he said that , also being told by the surgeon that the oncologist would give me the results he did say the results would talked about at the next MDT after my scan I know that after the frist MDT they phoned me but I wonder if they would do the same ,I just get so worked up and didn’t ask !
So the fact that it’s localised is good. It may be that the oncologist didn’t realise that you’d already had a scan? In my hospital the oncologist and surgeon had very different roles and I think sometimes they just focus on the bit that involves them so maybe didn’t look back on your notes and see that you’d already had no spread confirmed.
Perhaps you could write down your questions and then give your colorectal support nurse a ring tomorrow?
