I am due to have a meeting with the oncologist to discuss my chemoradiotherapy treatment. What can I expect to happen at this appointment - there's no information in the letter. Thanks
Hi @TAWorker. It’s a few years since my appointment but they gave me a booklet and went through what to expect. Basically you lie on a hard table, the radiographers make sure you’re in the correct position, the machine whirls round, clicks a bit and you’re done.
I had another appointment before treatment actually started where they tattoo you with 3 tiny dots so the radiographers know where to position you to zap the tumour. I was also given a bag full of medication with anti diarrhoea tablets, body wash, cream to apply to the area being treated and the chemo tablets.
The actual treatment only takes about 10 minutes but there can be delays that build up during the day so I asked for early morning appointments where possible.
Hope this helps but feel free to ask any questions
Take care
