Has anyone else been in a similar situation?

Hi everyone,

First time posting in this forum, forgive me if I ramble.

A few days ago my dad was diagnosed with prostate cancer following raised psa, mri and biopsy. Today, he was in excruciating pain and felt a lump in his tummy. My mum took him to a and e where they have now given an initial diagnosis of Bowel cancer. They have also spotted shows on his liver. They have kept him in tonight for surgery first thing for resection to relieve pain and chemo will start in 3 weeks. I’m fearing the worst. Can anyone tell me if you were diagnosed in a similar sudden way? They don’t seem to think the bowel cancer is linked to the prostate btw and are forgetting the prostate for now.

would love to hear your thoughts. It’s 4am and I can’t sleep !

Thanks x

  • Absolutely . I am POA for my mum . You have to get it drawn up legally though and there are lots of implications to it .

Our helpline staff could  give you more information.0808 808 0000

However it might just be a post op issue that will resolve . My mum had that around your dads age and it did sort itself out and she was perfectly capable of advocating for herself for another ten years . She only wanted it activated recently as she was so Sick .

You might just need to see if your dad has given permission to share his information with you . The staff are very strict about that and they did tell my mum only until she gave permission. Again they are constrained by legislation.

Infections and electrolytes can knock off people post op .
    take care ,
