Hi guys
Hope you're all OK. My surgery is getting closer and I'm a bit nervous. Anyone that's had a bowel resection, what should I expect ? It's the unknown that mostly makes me nervous. Thank you.
Congrats on resurfacing DadPool40. Lovely to hear from you.
Sorry to hear your op was such a marathon.
Be kind to yourself over the coming days and weeks. There's heaps to look forward to, but there is likely to be a frustration or hiccup here and there.
My suggestion : Pace yourself. Be kind to and patient with yourself. And don't forget to focus on the horizon .
Happy recovery.

Hope all goes well x
I am home your husband will be fine. Good luck to him. Let us know how he gets on.
Hello Dadpool,
So glad to hear your surgery went well. My op was also 7 hours. That was back in August, I am great now ,still get a little tired in the afternoons if I do too much but recovered well. Just make sure you rest , I find I am starving all the time, they say that it is your body using all your energy to repair itself.
Take care of yourself
Julie
Julie, I had my op several weeks ago, and I am like you, feel so tired in the afternoons, so I am glad that is quite normal. I think the trouble is I also try to do too much, walked over to Home Bargains today, then went for another quite long walk, and then felt shattered, so thought I would lay on the bed for 1/2 hour, but knock on the door and a friend turned up for a cuppa....which was good. so early night tonight!
Wow what a marathon today has been, he eventually went down at 10am and got a phone call from the doctor just before 6pm to say it was all done. All has gone as expected but just took longer than they thought. I’m leaving him to rest tonight but will be banging on the doors as soon as visiting starts tomorrow. Now where’s that wine
That’s great news. Glad he’s ok. So happy for him. Now the recovery starts
