Hi guys
Hope you're all OK. My surgery is getting closer and I'm a bit nervous. Anyone that's had a bowel resection, what should I expect ? It's the unknown that mostly makes me nervous. Thank you.
Not like me to miss an opportunity for a link! Thanks for the suggestion CrumpetsOrToast - hope this helps DadPool40

Hi Karen. My husband is due to have the same operation as you in a couple of weeks. Reading your post has certainly made me feel a bit better about the procedure. They have caught his cancer early so really hoping that he only needs the surgery but Will have to see what happens. To be honest he’s coping a lot better than me (on the surface). I’m one of those people that can cope as long as I know what’s happening whereas he has his head buried in the sand. Sometimes wonder if thats the best way. Thanks for putting my mind at rest a little.
Take care, Fiona xx
Hi DadPool40 - one more thought, there is a really nicely written book "Doctors get cancer too" by Dr Philippa Kay. It is both an interesting insight through one person's bowel cancer journey but also has various pages at the back about useful things to know.

Hi . You’re very welcome. I was the same as you - read lots of posts on here and the bowel cancer uk site ( but avoided google) so I knew what to expect but my husband was happy to wait for the meetings and find out what he needed to!
Bowel cancer is notoriously slow growing but very treatable especially if caught early. I was diagnosed in 2016 and I’m currently still cancer free as are the 2 ladies that I became good friends with during my treatment.
Welcome to the board. We’re a friendly lot and happy to help and support you both through this - feel free to ask anything you like - there is nothing too daft or embarrassing
Hope his op goes well and please keep us posted
Take care
Karen x
Good luck to him. Let us know how he gets on please. I find knowing much easier as well.
