Just finishing my first 2 weeks of Capecirabine tablets, ever since Sunday, I have been cold particularly my feet. Is this a side affect of the tablets.
Not to scare you and please don't be! This is just a `heads up` you might experience what they call a `throat spasm` Jay got one during his last cycle and gave himself a bit of a fright this is another symptom, but his oncologist told him about it before hand. Basically it just means that if you drink anything really cold your throat will feel that it is closing up and you may get a shortness of breath. If you drink lukewarm water, immediately it takes it away. So at the beginning really cold drinks are a no no until about the 2nd week of your cycle it depends though what treatment you are on Is just the Capecitabine you're on? Jay is on both Capecitabine and Oxaliplatin.

I've just had my second round of oxy followed by the 14 days of capecitabine...the tingling is slightly worse than the first time round but manageable with gloves and being careful around the fridge/freezer. I've found that I've had lower back pain this time around which I can manage with paracetamol but just feels like more meds to take. Hope you treatment goes well and you can control your side effects as best you can, best wishes for the future.
Everyone is different I suppose. Jay (my husband) is about to start `the ritual` again next week (4th cycle). He's been fine apart from the fingers and toes pins and needles- I hear you Lmo54 he's the same has to wear gloves going in and out of the fridge/freezer interesting you mention lower back pain he has this also but then again he has suffered back problems for a few years even before his cancer diagnosis but who knows maybe this was the tumour working on him at that time. Good luck to all with your treatment.
Vicky.
Hi, I finished 8 cycles of Capecitabine a month ago. I had numbness and pins and needles in my feet and fingers, also peeling skin. It became quite painful initially, but I was given creams, and the dosage lowered. The side effects lessened but continued all through the treatment. Since ending the course things are improving slowly, but my feet are still painful at times. Just stick with it, things should come right in the end. I'm told I am now in remission, just 5 years of checks to go.
Great news that you are in remission gottobeatit... interested to hear that the side effects lessened as I'm quite concerned they'll get worse with each round. 8 cycles! What a trouoer you are....well done for getting through it? Good luck for the future.
Wow! Great News! That sounds really encouraging since my husband is currently on Capecitabine (CAPOX) Oxaliplatin and Capecitabine. Hope he gets a good outcome with it.
