Just finishing my first 2 weeks of Capecirabine tablets,  ever since Sunday,  I have been cold particularly my feet.  Is this a side affect of the tablets.

  • Hi ,

Some of the literature I have read refers to cold hands and feet . Hopefully it will go away soon for you .

How have you coped with chemotherapy? You will be glad it’s over .

    Take care ,

  • Thanks it is only the first cycle but I have been okay so far.  It’s the unknown that is the worst.  I have a weeks rest now.  I have also started a new job which is tiring as well.

  • So sorry ! I misread that !

Once you get into a routine I noticed mum found her confidence with it .

A new job too ! Hope it goes well . Are you working from home or in person ?

    Enjoy your rest week !

  • I am working at home and at work, the office is very well spaced out and lots work from home so it is never full.  Nice to look forward to a bit of a lay in.

  • Hi

I had 5mths of just Capecitabine Tabs. & had no side effects until the 5th month, when I developed Palmar Plantar in my hands & feet. The drug is cumulative; best to write down all the side effects you are experiencing, & present them to your Oncologist (when you have a meeting.)

  • I think it can well be a side effect. I have just finished my second cycle of 2 weeks and am enjoying a weeks break. Everyone seems different with side effects for me it was nausea on the first cycle and then nothing on the second almost to the point where I think I want to see some sort of side effects so I know its working even though this thought process is completely wrong and it will be working away with or without side effects.  I had a run of the mill cold this week too which I think I caught from my son and was worried how I would fight that off and I have no problems so I am pretty happy being on the chemo all in all.

  • Thanks,  I am pleased you are not suffering and fingers crossed for the rest of the treatment

  • Hi Kiwimel

Do you have a tingling sensation in your fingers and toes?? My husband is currently going through chemo and is taking Capecitabine for 14 days and has the Oxaliplatin by infusion at day clinic. He can't touch anything cold at the beginning so has to forfeit his ice drinks at the start. They upped his dose of Oxipalatin last cycle and he noticed the tingling in his toes as well as his fingers. As far as I'm led to believe feeling or having a reaction to cold- even going into the fridge is a symptom.

  • Hi , no tingling yet?  I have a week off tablets hoping things will calm down.

  • Phantomguzzler you're like me! Because Jay (my husband) seems to be having little side effects on this treatment I sometimes wonder if it's working too! I feel if he's not getting side effects other than the pins n needles in his fingers and toes, its not working but then as you say they say that's not the case and can still be working away even with no side effects. Take Care.
