Hi I am due to start chemo in the next week , capecitabine tablets , what sort of side effects are people getting ? Many thanks as I am feeling very nervous about starting these
Hi Igotthis
I take capecitabine, sometimes I feel queazy but you will be given tablets to take for that as and when you need them. My nurse went through a possible list and medication to help. Everyone reacts differently but I haven't found it that bad. You'll be well looked after. Sending you hugs. x
Hi Igotthis. Hope your surgery went well and you’re recovering ok? As Kettleson says everybody reacts differently to chemo but capecitabine is generally one of the lesser harsh ones. I found it affected my feet particularly- they felt tingly and like I had sand in my shoes - so I moisturised them well but when the nurse saw how red they were getting they stopped my tablets and I didn’t have the last course. You may experience nausea but the nurses will give you tablets for this. If you’re struggling with any of the side effects then please tell the nurses - it may be that a different cream or tablet makes all the difference.
Ive attached a link to the Macmillan page about capecitabine for you
