Hi,
I had my first colonoscopy a week ago after bleeding on and off for a couple of years. I’d had a qFIT test when it first started but it was negative so GP assumed piles. I’m 50.
I went back a couple of weeks ago as the bleeding is still happening and got referred for the colonoscopy.
The colonoscopist described the polyp as an “unusual” shape and has referred me for blood tests and a CT scan and MRI which are next week. It’s only 1cm but it’s in the distal rectum, 0.5cm above the anal margin.
Has anyone else had this type of polyp?
I’m worried that it’s more likely to be malignant than a normal polyp, and that because of where it is, it will be difficult to remove/repair without a stoma.
Thanks, Kate
Hi Kate
Its a frightening time and I understand how your mind is going into overdrive
Once you’ve had the necessary tests your team will meet to discuss a treatment plan.
Please try not to overthink it.
I had a 10cm tumour removed with a LAR and have an Ileostomy. The cancers in the bin and that’s all I concentrated on. The stoma is no bother it saved my life I eat out and travel. I live life to the full
You may not need invasive treatment
