Hello Everyone!

Hope you have all had a good week. Jay has just completed his first week of treatment on the Oxapilatin/ Capecitabine and so far so good. He has only had a few side effects but nothing really major.  He has experienced the neuropathy in his fingers (pins and needles) but these don't last long and he was told to try to keep his fingers moving and that lifts it. He's been feeling a bit tired but that's possibly maybe the tablets working on him and there has been a post here about throat spasms he's not has those but felt his throat close up slightly but that's I take it with taking cold drinks although not directly from the fridge and only taking them at room temperature but then he takes a warm drink if this happens- tea or coffee. Out of habit as well he goes to the fridge and his hands get cold and forgets to wear his gloves sometimes. But other than that he has been ok so far whether the effects will get worse at the treatment goes on I don't know. He's on a `cocktail` of medicines again with taking his 8 Capecitabine tablets a day (4 in the morning 4 at night) and then he has to take his diabetes meds twice daily and he takes an anti-sickness tablet along with the Capecitabine to combat any feelings of nausea. In saying that he has felt slightly nauseous the last couple of nights but I think that's because he hasn't eaten until late on in the evening because `the car saga` as some of you may have read about in my recent posts is unfortunately still ongoing so it means he's out at just after 3.am in the morning and then again at 4.30 in the afternoon to transport our son up and down to Troon in Ayrshire  to and from work (35 mile journey each way) meaning he doesn't get in until about 7 at night doing the return journey. Hopefully though- very hopefully an end will be in sight. It really needs to be soon as the tiredness with Jay is telling on him now that combined with the medication. William (our son) is feeling really bad about it all too though because this was supposed to be a new start for him in a job he's wanted to do for so long and it's all just backfired. The blame now lies with the company who sold him the car and apparently they are now looking into it so hopefully something will get done soon. Jay is going for blood tests too on the 7th September this is in conjuction with his chemo treatment I think just to make sure his blood count is ok. He'll get his blood sugars for his diabetes done then too I phoned the GP earlier in the week and reminded him about that and that he's on an additional diabetes tablet to get his blood sugar regulated so he said all that will get done at the one visit. He got a letter in during the week too saying that his diabetes eye screening he got done at hospital a couple of weeks ago have come back with no change and that there is nothing to be concerned about relating to his eyesight with diabetes so hopefully things are looking up. Hope you are all keeping well. Take care.
