Hi All

Just home from hospital after having bowel removal & my former colostomy now converted to an iliostomy & just wanted to share my recent journey with you guys.

Some of you may remember me & the 5cm tuna removed in January especially Artsie you were an amazing shoulder Thankyou… anyway the tumour was complicated but my wonderful surgeon removed & gave me what we hoped would be a temporary stoma ‘Flo’ while my bowel recovered.

unfortunately during my follow up colonoscopy some paper thin cells were found & removed which against everyone’s thoughts & wishes were cancerous!

The dissuasion was made by the team I’m told after two really long discussions was that my best course of action was complete bowel removal but leaving the rectal stump & it would result in me having a permanent iliostomy !!

Hard news to hear, it was as if I had got to the top of the hill & somebody just pushed me back down!

But the positivity I want to share is the commitment & strength of these amazing surgeons whom pick us up, help us come to terms, make the right decisions & hold our hands on the journey.

Friday my surgeon performed 10hour keyhole surgery removing my bowel from my original stoma site so no further incisions & although rather sore 4 days later home & sleeping in my own bed & still fiercely independent, strong & knowing that damn bowel cancer can never get me again!

roll on science & cures, bowel transplants but for now big hand to these teams… surgeons, nurses , anesthetist & god bless the NHS

its almost like science fiction movie if you think about it. No scars with an operation that large it’s incredible

That cancers now in the bin and you can recover at home

sending you a virtual hug xxxx
