Hi Everyone!
Not long back from Jay's first Oxaliplatin session (Intravenous one). It went quite well but didn't realise so long!! We were there at 9.15a.m. this morning and came out at just after 2p.m. In saying that they didn't mess about with getting him set up. We had not long sat down in the waiting area before he was called. Too early obviously to say if there any of the adverse affects but we've had loads of reading material home with us and a thermometer to check his temperature. If it goes above 37 that's a sign of infection which he may be prone to anything up to 37 is fine. He's not to drink anything cold the nurse went through all that with us and he's quite peeved he can't have his ice drinks he likes so much and all drinks need to be at room temperature for a couple of days and even throughout the chemo they need to be room temperature if possible. He can have cans of coke, irn bru etc as long as they've not been in the fridge and anything directly from the fridge is a no no so he needs to forfeit his ice cream cones for now and certain yoghurts too but he's not much into yoghurt anyway. Got a bag load of tablets too the main ones being his Capecitabine and he got steroids to take for a couple of days and anti diahorrea tablets too. Pour soul between taking all those and his diabetes meds he'll be rattling we'll hear him coming before we see him. A lot to take in though but once we get into the way of it hopefully all will be plain sailing and the main thing will be that we'll get results.

Thanks Court!
Yes we're just sort of going to just chill today but in saying that we have our wee granddaughter for a sleepover tonight as mum n dad are going on a night out. Jay is neither up nor down today but as I said its too early to say if he's feeling anything out of the ordinary may take a couple of days for effects to kick in- if any!. Hopefully he won't be too bad. So many tablets for him to take but there's ones he'll only take for a couple of days and ones he only takes for 5 days and his Capecitabine he takes for the 14 days those plus his diabetes meds. He'll definitely be `rattling`.
