Hi Everyone!

Has anyone any tips on how to stay cool and safe in this hot weather with cancer. I know they tell you keep in the shade, cover up etc but I'm thinking for those with cancer diagnosis is the hot the hot weather a lot harder to bear. We are at our caravan just now and Jay was sitting out yesterday under the parasol without a hat and the weather was really sweltering and last night he said in his words 'felt like a bag of sh*t' I just wonder if he got a little bit of sunstroke but this has never affected him in this way before.  Also he slept up to 10am this morning which is not like him.

  • Had to laugh! He was the one telling me to get a hat on sitting out in the sun. Just wondering if there's things you should or shouldn't do when sitting in the sun with cancer but still able to enjoy it.

  • Hi PattyK, it is very easy to get dehydrated in this heat even if you are not doing very much. Dehydration can make you feel bad and although I try to keep the liquids up, if I feel I need it I use a rehydration drink.

I am not on any treatment now but I would just keep as cool as possible and stay hydrated.

Temperature is going down next week so hope Jay can enjoy more suitable weather then

  • I can't sit in the sun at all on my meds. I have to find shade or sit inside. I use a little hand fan to keep cool or the big tower fans from Argos I bring downstairs. I don't think there is much you can do in the sun
