Just an update. I have had my 5th round of chemo just now. 1 more to go. Then a scan to determine if I need any more chemo. Hopefully not. Trying to stay positive. So hot in here today it's not nice in the heat. Thanks for all your support.

Hope everyone is doing well.

  • You sound to be doing really well  and on the homeward straight. Yes I remember the sticky chemo chairs and all the windows being open which just seemed to let in more heat. Hope you’ve got something nice planned for after your last one?

    Take care

  • Thanks Karen. Nothing planned yet. Need to wait to see what the scan says. Fingers crossed though. Hope you're ok.

  • I wish you all the luck. I'm just into my first chemo and it's not too bad so far

  • Good luck. You will do great. Grin

  • I finished my chemo/radiotherapy about 5 weeks ago, I had to take 4 chemo tabs in the morning, then hospital for radiotherapy and then 4 more chemo tabs in the afternoon, every day for 5 weeks, which was a struggle but over and done with now, had scans a week ago and saw the Oncologist who told me the tumour had shrunk, and I will now have to meet with Colorectal surgeon who will probably operate, hopefully keyhole surgery.  I think it is the waiting for results which is the worse thing, but we must try and stay positive.  I met a lovely lady in the clinic she was going through chemo, and we got on well, in fact we have been in touch and when we are feeling better we will meet for a coffee.  Well you only have one more round of chemo to go that will soon be over and done with, hope and pray you need no more.

  • Thank you Mary. I'm glad you are doing well. Things seem well in hand. Good luck to you. You seem like you're doing well. So pleased for you.

  • Hi  and welcome to the board. Good to hear that you’re over the first hurdle and ready to get what’s left of the tumour in the bin. I met 2 ladies on the bowel cancer uk board who were diagnosed at the same time and at the same stage as me. We supported each other through it and have met up a couple of times since although we don’t live very close to each other.
Having said that I message 1 of the ladies several times a day and she has become such a close friend and the best bit is that she gets it! Sometimes you need someone who is in the same boat to truly understand what you’re going through x

  • Thank you for your reply, lets try and stay positive, because today they can do so much more in treating cancer.  So stay strong.

  • Thank you Karen.  Hope you do not mind me asking, but after you finished your chem/radiotheray did you still get tiredness and pain?  I know I do, and today (I wonder whether its the heat) I have felt drained.  Cannot be bothered with doing anything.  I suppose its could be the radiotherapy still working in my body, it must take quite a time to get rid of.  Saying all this I am sure tomorrow will be a better one, I count my blessings I have a lovely family and friends that are always there for me.  Tell you what Karen something good has come out of this!!! I have had flowers, cards, books, friends and daughter doing the housework, daughters husband watering the hanging baskets, so not all bad....

  • Hi . It’s a good few years since my chemoradiotherapy (2016 to be exact) but I know quite a few people on here have had side effects for several weeks after finishing. The radiotherapy continues working for a good while after the actual treatment finishes hence the several weeks wait before scans - I was 3 months from starting chemoradio to hitting the operating table.

Loving your positive attitude and looking at the plus points although my husband killed my house plants by proudly watering them everyday! x
