Seeking expériences from you lovely people as I know nothing is sure until histology report is completed. History is bowel cancer, right hemicolectomy June 21. Bowel obstruction, strangling ileum and a hernia , anastomosis - emergency opmoctober 21. I had planned to leave my job as I am tired and bored with it but it gives me great private health insurance. I just had annual colonoscopy and they found and removed 2 sessile polyps of 5mm and 8mm in the rectosigmoid. I am wondering is this means it’s good as they are removed or if it can be something sinister I may need treatment for
Question to forum member- Given that the last time surgeons were in there was October and suddenly I have two polyps, is there a likelihood I will be given mop up chemo. If no, should I ask for it? Does this mean something fast is happening? Will the histology be able to determine ? Will colonoscopies be more frequent than annual now?
i have been exhausted since June op and never got energy back to what it was although I keep pushing myself. I am wondering if polyps drain energy.
Full blood count has come back perfect first time in over a year. CEA markers high but reducing. Iron and vit d back in normal zones.
I know I have given a lot of info. I had hoped it would be a jubilant time as I planned to retire at last from a stressful job and now I am smiling fakely to my family as I don’t feel ready to jubilate. I look forward to hearing of any similar experiences. I feel a bit lost and have a month to wait apparently for histology results.
for anyone who has read or replies. Thank you so much.
Hi WillaD
I wanted to say hello and welcome you.
I haven’t had the same as you I had a LAR August last year which was picked up at a colonoscopy eventually diagnosed as 10cm tumour. They had said that it had been there a very long time.
So hopefully your polyps may have been left as harmless, now the biopsy will check that they are benign
I hope that someone pops along with more experience than I soon
Ann
Thank you Artsie Ann for taking the time to reply. I hope you are recovering well from your tumour. Like you they think mine was there for years but I think 5-6 max as I had a colonoscopy once with an endoscopy. I have been reading a bit everywhere today but founds some useful info that it takes time for the polyp to become a tumour - sometimes years and that it starts at the top before going down into the stem. So I am slightly reassured as my polyps must be no older than 9 months - but waiting for that final word from the colorectal team before celebrating.
Thanks for your well wishes.
I am doing really well so far. It’s a year soon so more anxiety to start when I have the scans and bloods. That’s the nature of this horrid thing.
I hope that you get some good news soon
Treat yourself to something and celebrate Keep us updated
