Hi all.
Now just finishing my 3rd cycle of capox and to say I'm struggling is an understatement.
I'm permanently light headed and even the smallest movement brings on bouts of dizziness. Add to this unbelievable fatigue means I'm pretty much bed ridden. Not much fun when you live alone.
Seriously considering withdrawing treatment as I have absolutely zero quality of life.
Hi Catdad
i have also seriously struggled with Capox . My oncologist has since reduced the dosage, which has helped, so may be worth speaking tp your oncologist about trying a lower dose before withdrawing treatment completely.
I feel for you and hope your quality of life improves soon.
Kim
Hello Catdad
I don't know how many cycles you are having. Cycle 1 - I was tired for the first 10 days and def off food. Cycle 2 has been a lot worse - for the first 4 days my heart was racing/feeling of doom (I don't do drama normally), loads of side effects that I didn't have first time round. And for the last 7 days I have been bed-bound. I am definitely going to ask Oncologist to reduce dose - still getting pins and needles but tiredness is markedly worse. You must talk to your Oncologist to moderate the dosage - they do it all the time. Hope you feel much better soon.

I had cycle 6 on Wednesday and seem to have got through somehow although they are threatening 8. I had the dosage of the capecitabine for cycle 4 reduced and the infusion for cycle 5 reduced. Fatigue is really bad but my main problem is the heat at the moment. I really miss cool. How do others cope with socks, gloves and I wear a jumper because my arm is so sore from the 5 attempts to find a vein. I only had heart racing early on but I was not on any medication before I started chemo.
HI Maudie - gosh you are doing brilliantly if you are on cycle 6. I had a very sore arm on cycle 1 and was advised to put a hot water bottle on arm after the chemo really inflamed my vein. It helped and went away after I did this for a few days. I'm not on any meds other than the joyous chemo ones, Wishing you all the best Laura
Hi Living the dream - I too used a hot water bottle but is difficult walking around! My husband jokes that I should wear a wooly hat and a scarf! I have asked for a scan now to see how things are going and hopefully will not have to go to eight. Worst side effect was DVT's which came in Cycle 2 and the numbness in fingers and toes but that does seem to wear off after a bit. Fatigue I can cope with just about and make sure to rest as much as possible but try to keep active too. Thanks for your good wishes Laura.
Hi Maudie. Your husband is funny especially in this heat! :) I know I will feel better in a week's time - so will do as much as I can in the few days before the next cycle again. You'll have to patent a portable hot water bottle for your arm. Take care Laura
Thanks everyone. Thankfully the decision had already been made for me. Responded so well to earlier chemo/radiotherapy & to the first 3 cycles of capox that chemo has been stopped.
Now on waiting list for my surgery
