Iv just received my date for my first year sigmoidoscopy and iv been sent liquid enima to be placed in rectum 2 hours before procedure unfortunately my rectum was closed with my surgery so will it have to go into my stoma or will I need something else
Many thanks in advance Gill x
Oh my goodness I really don’t know I would phone your team.
Im sorry I’m not much help however a liquid enema doesn’t sound right for a stoma.
But I’m not a medic, surely there should be instructions for that.
My diary says that I should have a colonoscopy August.
Well that’s pointless as I’ve still got and Ileostomy so there’ll be nothing to see there
Do you think there’s wires crossed ?
Keep us posted.
Hope all goes well
Ann
Hi Ann
You can still have colonoscopies with both ileostomies and colostomies, and the tube is passed through the stoma.

Hi Ann
I’ve just sent off my bowel screening test yesterday, so I’m hoping all is well and there is no need for a colonoscopy for me!

Yes Ann- everything crossed. I couldn’t face more cancer investigations, though it would be weird being able to see the tube going into the stoma. I suppose people who use the irrigation technique for their colostomy would find it quite normal since they are used to putting something into their stoma, but I think I’d find it very odd!

Good attitude Kath!
