Hi there.
I had chemo and radiotherapy in September last year for low rectal cancer and had the usual side effects which passed after a few weeks.
I had APR surgery on new years eve (9 weeks ago) and the Ken butt itself seems to be healing nicely with only having the occassionaly twinge or sharp pain but no weeping at all.
My main pain now is in my coccyx region at the top of my bum cheeks. It just feels as if I have a sore there and my wife reassures me the skin is not even red but if I sit it stings until I can move.
This is right in the plane the machine was blasting me and am wondering if anyone else has had similar effects months after treatment.
Thanks
Kev
Hi MinionKev. I found I had a pain there for quite a time after surgery especially if I’d been for a walk - it was even uncomfortable getting back into and sitting in the car after going to the supermarket. My nurse told me it was just post surgery pain as things were still healing inside and just to take things a bit easier and walk maybe every other day instead.
Good to hear that your wound sounds to be healing nicely but give your nurses a ring if you’re concerned about the coccyx pain?
Take care
