Had my results meeting with surgeon today.
Having a LAR on 23 Feb - no radiotherapy required before but will require a temp Stoma - which although from reading others’ experiences was half expecting just need to get my head round.
The more worrying bit was he said there was a nodule show up on my scan on liver - he did say he had had a good look at my original MRI and didn’t think it was anything to worry about but just wants me to have a liver MRI to make sure before surgery. However I’m worrying.
Hi Bennysmum
if you click on my name you can read my bio. I had my LAR August so I’m a little ahead of you any questions just ask. The Stoma is daunting when you’re told I didn’t know the difference between a colostomy and Ileostomy!
I couldn’t worry pre op about the stoma all I could think of was getting that cancer out. Whatever it took. I think that’s a good way plan for it.
It sounds as if they’re not concerned about the liver but going to double check. You’re bound to be anxious about it. The worst part of this is the waiting and what ifs.
I hope that your scans done soon
Take care
Ann
Hi Bennysmum. I had exactly the same and it was a harmless cyst called a hemangioma. The nurse told me that they’re very common and lots of people go through life with them being none the wiser unless they have a scan. I think I had a couple and they have remained the same since I was diagnosed in 2016.
Glad youve got a surgery date and there’s lots of stoma support on here too
Take care

Hi Bennysmum
When I had my first CT scan the year after my surgery I was called back for an MRI scan on my liver. It was a cyst that had shown up on the CT but was considered harmless and required no further treatment. I felt nervous about my second year scan but I wasn't called back that time. I feel like it shows that if anything is wrong it will be picked up.
Good luck with your surgery and recovery.
