Hi all.  My mom has her tumour biopsy results on Tuesday so starting to worry now.  Is it likely she'll need extra treatment?

  • Hi Jlutw1983

its a worrying time and the mind can go into overdrive. Please don’t go on Google. It can cause so much anxiety and is out of date.
This is a good place to be as we have been there and know how stressful it is

I didn’t get any results if you click on my name you can read my journey. It’s probably going to be different to your Mums. They treat the individual and we are all different

You haven’t said what tests your mum has said but I will share a little of my experience  I had my results when I met my Consultant who gave me my diagnosis  I didn’t ask many questions as he told me the treatment plan and I was fully informed into everything that was needed and I went for it

if your Mums had a colonoscopy then there will be a telephone number that she can phone and talk to her team member for reassurance or next steps

This is the toughest part of it however be assured that’s she’s in the system and the NHS have are amazing

    Take care

  • Hi Im afraid you won’t know until Tuesday. If they’ve removed the tumour with clear margins and there are no lymph nodes or vascular invasion then there’ll probably be no more treatment. If there are lymph nodes affected or vascular invasion then the oncologist will discuss whether some chemo would be beneficial or not?

    Take care

  • Like the others have said you will only know once you have the appointment.once that has happened they will explain what will happen next.everyone is different eg I had no nodes affected out of 60 but was still offered chemo as "a belt and braces"

It is a worrying time but once you know what is next it gets easier to cope with.all the best
