Hi all. I am new here, first post.
I had a colonoscopy yesterday following which I was called in to an office with my husband and told have an area of inflammation that he suspected to be cancer - was fairly certain so now just waiting biopsy results then MRI.
I had to break news to mum and kids yesterday which as you can imagine was devastating.
I am so convinced it has spread - I have had bleeding since a few weeks before Xmas and stupidly put off going to docs as thought it would just be piles (first blood was after some constipation) but also had a very slight pain in my side for a while which came and went so never really thought anything about it until it came back when the bleeding started. Now just feeling absolutely devastated and scared.
also wanted to ask before colonoscopy which I had at about 3 pm yesterday I was having stools with some blood in but last night and this morning have been having lot of gas and passing mostly just blood and what looks like clot though could be some stool with blood. Is this normal after biopsy taken?
thank you for reading my ramble and any help you can give, xxxx
Hi Bennysmum
It’s good to talk and ask and you’re not rambling at all.
I had a change in bowel habits, blood and orange mucus after my procedures. I think most do. If you click on any names you can read our bios which may help.
Bowel cancer is slow and there’s amazing treatment.
I think it’s good that you are now on the radar and you will have a team of that will plan the treatment you need.
I found this the toughest time. Waiting and worrying. Please don’t go on Google.
Keep talking here and let us know how things are
Ann
Thank you so much for your reply - yes I made the mistake of Google prior to the colonoscopy - will keep away in future and just post here.
also lost a lot of weight over last 3 weeks since visit to docs. Before that hadn’t lost anything in fact put on over Xmas. But since went to docs been really anxious so not had as much of appetite and stomach churning so hoping it is just that.
thanks again for reply. xxx
Hi Bennysmum and welcome to the board. You’ve had a great reply from Artsie but you could also give the number on your colonoscopy paperwork a ring for reassurance about the blood. Alternatively the nurses on here are available 7 days a week from 8-8 on 0808 808 00 00 for advice.
Bowel cancer is notoriously slow growing but also very treatable. The waiting for scan results and meetings is very stressful but once you have a treatment plan in place then things will honestly feel a bit better. Stay away from google - you can ask anything you like on here - there is nothing too daft or embarrassing.
Take care
