At last SIRT

Been a while since I've posted, my husband Dave was diagnosed a year ago, stage 4 bowel cancer with spread to liver and peritonium, incurable, inoperable and a poor prognosis. This last year he's had 28 rounds of chemo, bowel and peritonium cancer is now invisible, liver not so much shrinkage. His oncologist has now put him forward for SIRT which we never thought would be on the cards, so we're thrilled to get this chance. He's had the first stage, planning angiogram, which went without a hitch and on Wednesday it's the second part, injecting the radioactive beads into his liver. Just praying this will knock his liver mets back. Never thought this window of opportunity would come. Love Frances xxx

  • Thanks Court. It's been a long wait but what I've learned is you have to advocate for yourselves. Each meeting we have with Oncologist I've my list of questions, things I've researched etc. At first Oncologist was frosty about my note book and list, but now he always says "what have you for me today". He's very open to new research. We've also done the blood biopsy through Foundation Science, waiting to hear if that throws up any new options. It's these forums and it's lovely people that have guided us along, love Frances xxx

  • You are so correct  that was our experience too in the early days . Seeking out those windows of opportunity.

There was always a plan B in my mind and I think it pays to stay informed .

Hope it goes well and I will keep a wee eye out on how it goes .

I picked up so much information from other people further ahead of my mum . It gave a sense of direction.

Take care and your husband is one fortunate man to have you on his team .
