Hello, my chemotherapy has not been working.I should have had chemo every two weeks but my platelets and white blood cells were always low, delaying my treatment usually by two weeks. I had six treatments with another four to go, but my oncologist decided to stop the chemotherapy.
I was elated at first as my treatment was supposed to end in October but knowing it was possibly ending in February or possibly later was really getting me down. However, I now have mixed emotions.Owing to this change happening just eight days before Christmas, I feel completely cut off. I was able to make arrangements for my pic line to.be removed and I am awaiting a date for my scan that I am to have sometime in January.
Probably because it is the Christmas period, everything has slowed down but can anyone tell me what should I expect to happen next and in the future?

Hi I had to have my chemo stopped as it made me very poorly, it was stopped in July I too was glad it stopped but was worried if it had done its job.
I heard nothing until I seen my surgeon on 10th November had a good chat to him which reassured me.
I then went for a CT scan was came back clear no disease present.,I was so relieved especially after having chemo stopped.
I'm sure yoh will hear soon you think they have forgotten you but they don't. Xxxx
Hello,
Thank you so much for your reassuring reply.
Really pleased that you are all clear, you must feel over the moon!
May I ask how long did it take you to recover from side effects? I have neuropathy, that I was told may be permanent, plus my hair is very thin with a couple of almost bald patches and the wearisome fatigue. Can you remember when you first noticed when the side effects were improving?
One thing that has saddened me was the abruptness of the stopping as I never got to see and personally thank the chemo nurses and staff. I sent a thank you letter but that is not the same.
I was told that I will get a scan in January but I see you did not have a scan until after four months, that just seems such a long time. So how did you cope initially? I apologise for all the questions.

Hi I stopped on July 22nd I had 6 of 12 I spent a lot of time in hospital on chemo my sodium kept dropping causing me to pass out, my hair thinned out I still have bald patches now,k list a lot of weight. I started to feel better about month after it stopped and now feel really good (touch wood). Yes I seen my consultant on 10th November and he booked my scan for me he also said I will need a flexible sigmoid to look at my rectum which is left.
My scar line is still playing up but I dress that myself now.
You will get there in seems like forever but you will I was told 6 months before I would feel back to normal after chemo.

Hello HazG,
Thank You for your speedy response! I put almost a stone on and hope to lose it is asap as my clothes are uncomfortably tight, but not wanting to rush out and buy a new wardrobe of clothes.
Good to know that your oncologist is still sorting out the problems and that you will get sorted.
Really appreciate your positive reassurance.
Thank you
