Hi Everyone
I had a bowel cancer removed nearly 2 years ago . A recent follow up pet scan has found 3 very small areas in my lungs which I have been told by the oncologist is spread from the bowel so rated it stage 4 . I have been told to have chemo starting this month for 6 months. Irinotcan (campto) and Capecitabine Tablets.
Anyone had this chemo and any advise please ?
Regards Mark
Hello
I also had Bowel Cancer in 2019, then 2 small Lung Nodules shown on CT scan in 2020. I imagine that Irinotcan is a Chemo infusion? I only had 6 mths. of Capecitabine to reduce the tumours - which worked to some extent...& then I had a lung ablation procedure in Oct. '20
I found the tablets very doable...but the dosage was gradually increased. It was not till the 5th month that I started experiencing side effects, then, was taken off them.
Best wishes

Hi Goodfellaok
Sorry to hear you have more to endure . Can’t answer the chemo aspect directly but will have a think about who I can tag in that has .
My mum had a lung met picked up like yourself whilst it was very small . They had actually been watching it for two years and she had surgery to remove it using Vats . Compared to the bowel it was a walk in the park . Over five years ago and still doing well .
Take care ,

Hi Marianne
Thanks for getting back to me.
Yes Irinotcan is a Chemo infusion
Has the ablation treatment helped to remove your tumors ?
Regards Mark
Hi Court
Glad to hear your mum is doing well . I have not been given the watch and wait option even though my nodes are very small. I might go back to my oncologists to see what they say. If you know anyone else with similar issues please let me know. Thanks for replying.
Regards Mark
Hi Mark
My last CT Scan was back in May, which showed all clear then - just the remains of scar tissue. I'm due my next scan sometime in January.
The two lung nodules were both in my right lobe & were 5mm & 3.5mm. So yes, the RFA (radio frequency ablation,) did work to blast them. However, should they return, the procedure can be performed numerous times (obviously dependent on size of tumours & positioning of them though.) It is a very uninvasive procedure - non surgical.
If you have any more questions, don't hesitate to post me again.
Many best wishes
Marian
