Hi everyone
I’ve not posted on here for a while. I had successful treatment for rectal cancer which ended in April. And an opp in May which went really well. Clear margins and no lymph nodes removed contained cancer. I was given a stoma which is temporary so have had this for 6 months now. I’m doing well, feel great. I just wondered, has anyone on here experienced any rectal bleeding with an ileostomy? It’s only happened a couple of times. I usually evacuate any mucus a couple of times a day. It is usually clear or brown. I’ve just noticed the last couple of days on two occasions a little bit of blood.
Any guidance or personal experience would be much appreciated.
Adam
Hi Adam R,
Pleased you are doing so well.
I had surgery in January with temporary ileostomy (which I still have), then chemo March to June (as 1 lymph node involved). I had some rectal bleeding and after investigation it turned out to be proctitis at the join in my bowel. I also had a little more bleeding after the fluoroscopy to check the join had healed properly and also after my Covid booster (I always report it to my team).
I'd certainly get it checked out for peace of mind.
