Bleeding post surgery

Could anyone please help/share their experiences as I'm having such a panic today. I passed my first 'proper' stool earlier and have since been again - formed stools as opposed to a bit of nothing (!) I was initially delighted but then noticed that fresh blood was mixed in with the stool plus fresh blood on toilet paper and it has triggered me MASSIVELY and caused me to go into panic mode. I spoke to the doctor who said only to worry if I spiked a temperature, had a lot of bleeding, a hard abdomen or started being sick - otherwise it was probably nothing much to worry about. I feel ok other than being sore and incredibly anxious. I'm on blood thinning injections for 28 days.
Has anyone else experienced this please? I think as it 's the symptom that caused me to get checked out in the first place it has totally thrown me and brought me right back to that point of diagnosis - I'm worried there's cancer still there etc etc. Any words of wisdom to help calm me would be so greatly appreciated. Thank you xxx

    Hi

I am going to suggest you get it checked out  . I have included a leaflet and there is references to reporting bleeding . Not because I think there is anything wrong as it is a healing wound internally but I think they would be able to separate for you what is within the range of normal and what’s abnormal and may need intervention. That is really difficult to know unless you work in that field . Post op we passed a few things past my mum’s team and I found them to know exactly what was normal and reassuring to hear .

If your at all worried you can phone the NHS or our helpline nurses might actually be of assistance. 0808 808 0000.

Great to hear you are safely through and I am sure you will feel better with professional reassurance.

    Take care ,

Hi Bobs74, my first two bowel movements resulted in fresh red blood which I put down to trauma from the surgery. It eased quickly and normalised after the third and subsequent bowel movements. Completely normal now which the colorectal team said was fine. Hopefully your bleeding will stop, if it doesn’t you should get checked out xx
