Hi everyone, quick intro..... I had a big weight loss episode4 weeks ago which was initially put down to a bad case of viral gastroenteritis but a blood test revealed that I was anemic.... the doc referred me to a specialist who had me in for a CT scan within 2 days which has revealed that I have bowel cancer & secondary liver cancer. So it's been an emotional week telling family & friends..... hardest by far was having to sit the grandkids down and tell them. Had a liver biopsy last week and now waiting for the results to come back MDT review should have been on Monday but all results weren't back so will be this coming Monday which will determine treatment plan.....trying to keep positive and busy

Welcome to the forum . A very difficult few weeks for you and your family . Hopefully they will get a good plan in place to help get the disease stabilised soon . I have linked in a booklet which is good at giving some insight into the management of bowel cancer that has spread and a thread of top tips for chemotherapy which you might find beneficial as you prepare for treatment .
If you click on my user name you can read how my mum navigated through a spread to her liver . Going straight to chemotherapy gave them the opportunity to gain stability and shrinkage . This actually opened up other avenues for her but others may continue using chemotherapy over many years and you will see people on their 5th and 6 th year of treatment on forums living a good life despite a difficult diagnosis. Others may not get the same response unfortunately but it’s not a situation without hope .
Initially it’s very hard as the Drs are guarded until the see how effective chemotherapy is but after they get a feel for you as an individual they do work very hard to make sure the very best treatment package is available.
Bowel cancer as a primary has quite a few different chemotherapy agents for the oncologist to work with and very recently Immunotherapy is now emerging .
Please feel free to ask anything you wish . We will do our best to support you .
Take care ,
