I am due to start Capox next week, just over 10 weeks since surgery. I am given to understand optimum start would be 6 to 8 week gap. Looking online suggests 10 week gap may mean higher likelihood of colon cancer return. Does anyone know about this please
Great . I will have a look.

Is it this one ?
I think it’s one to have a chat with your team about as some things are jumping out .
A couple of points . It seems to suggest all different cell types have been included in the study and they have different prognostic factors anyway if I understand it correctly. The age of the participants also needs to be factored in .
The second aspect the overall survival seemed to deteriorate the further away from the eight week window whilst you are only two weeks away from it . I read somewhere there are still benefits up to months later, it’s reduced but beneficial.
The other aspect in practice the oncologist will have a lot of hands on experience of this as there are unfortunate a lot of post op complications and many people will be a week or two over . Although the article is quite recent the actual study is older and your oncologist might have better data which may be more relevant and reassuring to your situation .
The oncologists are really good at being able to interpret some of the variables in research that might not be obvious to us that impact their clinical decisions.
Our helpline staff might also be able to get more information for you . 0808 808 0000.

Hi, , I started 8 weeks after surgery, but they have to wait until you are recovered from the wounds. Under healing the cells etc grow quickly to heal. This is precisely what the chemo targets! So you need to be healed before starting. I would think that 10 weeks wouldn't make much difference. ((Hugs))
