I am sorry to hear you are having a tough time .

Has chemo bern stopped to allow them to recover or for good ?

Are you able to ask them how they want to approach conversations . I know in the beginning I was on a different page to my mum . I wanted her to pursue a pathway of acceptance with all her wishes fully known . On the other hand my wanted to go about her life as normal , focus on her wellbeing and what she could control and stay connected to her life including conversations. I learnt with time to let her take the lead and I followed that . I do remember feeling lost at that point so I totally understand the not feeling as though you are getting it right part . 

They have obviously been very ill with sepsis so I think taking time to get their priority health needs sorted is a must then you can get a better feel for what options are open to them . 
My mum had a few horrible emergency admissions but they supported her through it .

I think if treatment is still possible there is hope . Also the chemo may have also been effective . Have they had a scan recently?

feel helpless and at a loss 

scans after 4-5 chemo sessions show progression in disease ..

plan to change chemo ..when they have picked up from this decline ...

That’s so hard on you all . Remember our helpline is there is you want to chat in person .

Chemo can be rough , but hopefully they will get a chance to gather some strength and nutrition for the next round .
