Hi all,
Hi Joix21
My understanding, which is limited, the PET scan can have uptake due to inflammatory issues as well as cancer ! But I think you would need a radiologist to explain how they separate them ! Again from what I understand there is ranges in the levels of uptake which contributes to their findings !
Inflammatory issues in the bowel can be colitis , Crohn’s disease , diverticulitis etc , benign polys but they like to be very thorough with that area to ensure anything malignant can be quickly dealt with ! If it’s a benign polyp they may just remove it during the procedure!
If they have been running blood panels for you the may have done a CEA test which is a tumour marker in bowel cancer ! Not totally reliable for everyone !
We have many people pass through here year after year with what appears to be very similar symptoms to bowel cancer to the point of bleeding but turns out to be an inflammation in the bowel due to an underlying issue !
Obviously not a Dr just sharing what comes through here !
However the nurses in the helpline might have more information if you want to pass it through them !

All the very best with your results and hopefully this will be the last for you !
