Hi do anyone know if you have a cold can you still have chemotherapy

  • Hi

Your team will assess you either on the phone or in person ! Some people still seem to get it others take another week to get better !

Is it your first cycle tomorrow?

Hi court how you all doing went for my first treetment iv got a bladder infection so been given 4 days antibiotics iv got to phone Monday make another appointment did this ever happen with your mum wen she was having treetment

  • In my chemo, it got stopped twice for colds, and low bloods, but they carried on the next week - and added them onto the end. Mine was weekly. They have your best interest at heart, so hope you get well soon.

First cycle would have been yesterday I'm scared of leaving it the cancer could spread

  • One week honestly should not make any difference. My mum’s oncologist even offered her to go on holiday if she wanted before starting chemo ! Oncologist are very used to this and they will get you going next week ! Significant holidays throw everything out too and it’s best to have a bit of a flexible approach going into this . We did not at the beginning as everything is new but after a while the whole family got into the swing of delays and obstacles that had to be overcome !

Next Friday and you will be on your way !

  • Everyone undergoing Chemo. is assessed individually. If you have any infection that requires antibiotics, your Oncologist will probably take you off Chemo for the duration. I had a tooth infection, that required antibiotics. My Oncologist took me off Chemo for those 10 days - during my 6 months. Any cancer you have, will be unlikely to grow within that timescale. Whilst on Antibiotics, they could interfere with your immune system....hence the short break. They are thinking primarily about your immune system...which is paramount when undergoing Chemo.
